NAWABSHAH, Oct 21: Four persons including a woman were injured when some armed men opened fire on them in Makrani Para, Linepar on Tuesday. The injured were identified as Akram Baloch, Sahir Baloch, Akhlaq Makrani and Fateh Khatoon. The incident took place when members of the Makrani community offered resistance to some members of the Rind community who were allegedly trying to illegally occupy a government plot.

Ameerzada Makrani told Dawn that they were the workers of the Pakistan People’s Party and had been living in Makrani Mohalla for decades. They said that a plot belonging to the revenue department was lying vacant and a former MPA of the PPP had tried to grab it in 1997 and the matter had been pending in the court since then.

He said that a couple of days back, the ex-MPA along with dozens of armed men again tried to occupy the plot in question using the name of an influential person.

He said that they reported the matter to Islam Khan Zardari at the Zardari House but no notice was taken and on Tuesday the armed men of the ex-MPA came to Makrani Mohalla and opened fire on innocent people.

They said that they as well as other residents of the area have been demanding of the government to construct a school and a dispensary for the residents of Linepar to facilitate them; however, no progress had been made in that regard.—Correspondent
