ISLAMABAD, Oct 21: The Pakistan Mazdoor Kissan Party has criticised the government policy of owning the war against terrorism, warning that the policy will create a civil-war like situation in the country.
In a statement issued here on Monday, president of the party Afzal Khamosh said the war in Afghanistan that was a result of the Cold War between the USSR and United States was now spreading in Pakistan.
He urged the government to take the people into confidence on its policy towards militancy and the US-led war on terror.
He said militancy was the outcome of the US presence in this region, particularly in Afghanistan, and the Taliban movement would cease the moment the USA leaves the region.
Mr Khamosh also condemned the use of fighter jets and other heavy weapons during various operations conducted by the Pakistani forces in different parts of the country, including Bajaur and Swat.
He warned the grave repercussions of the alleged supply of weapons to various tribes in the Fata by the government while forming Lashkars, adding that the weapons could further escalate violence in the society.
He said the people were under stress due to phenomenal increase in inflation and utility bills and that their confidence in the government was being undermined because of energy crisis.
