RAWALPINDI, Oct 19: A truck driver has been kidnapped in the city for Rs3 million ransom while a woman along with two girls and a five-year-old boy went missing in Jatli, police said on Saturday.

Anwar Khan, the truck driver, left his house for the Pirwadhai bus stand to earn his livelihood on September 11, but did not return.

His brother, Badsha Khan, complained to the police that he received a telephone call from the kidnappers who told him that his brother was in their captivity. They demanded Rs3 million for his safe release. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

In Jatli, a woman identified as Sobia Bibi left her house for the market along with her two nieces and a five-year-old boy but never returned.

Her father, Muzafar Hussain Shah, told the police that he had not received any ransom call. However, the police have started a search for the missing persons.

At least seven vehicles were taken away from different parts of the city on Saturday, police said.

Masood Anwar Hameed’s car was stolen from Sadiqabad, Dawood Rana lodged a similar complaint of theft of his car with the New Town police.

Altaf Hussain complained to the Pirwadhai police that his motorcycle was stolen from outside his house, while Tariq Ismail’s motorcycle was taken away from the parking lot of Holy Family Hospital.

Abu Ashir’s car was stolen in Westridge, while Nasir Shakeel’s motorcycle was lifted from the Airport police area.

Salamat Hussain told the Westridge police that a woman along with three other persons booked his taxi from outside a hospital in Sadiqabad for Westridge. After reaching their destination, they pulled out pistols and snatched the vehicle.
