Scholar Banho Khan Sheikh dies

HYDERABAD, Oct 19: A bureaucrat-turned-scholar, Banho Khan Sheikh, who is known for his research on the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, died in Hala on Sunday after protracted illness. He was 85.

He leaves behind four daughters and two sons.

Mr Sheikh had done commendable research on Shah Latif’s poetry and compiled his verses in three volumes. He served as deputy secretary in the Board of Revenue and retired after attaining age of superannuation.

Mr Sheikh had had great attachment with Shah Latif’s shrine and had sufficient understanding of religion as well.

He was laid to rest in the premises of Shah Latif’s shrine near the grave of Tamar Faqeer, a disciple of Shah Latif.
