GUJRAT, Oct 18: Two children were drowned when a speeding motorcycle rickshaw plunged into upper Jhelum canal near Panjan Shahana village of Dinga while their parents and the driver were rescued by locals here on Saturday.
Reports said Afzaal of Panjan Shahana village, along with his wife and two children – kashif (5), Saba (3) -- was returning home after visiting Khokhara village by a motorcycle-rickshaw when the three-wheeler careened into the canal. As a result, both children got drowned. However, the parents and the rickshaw driver were rescued by locals.
Till filing of the report, only Saba’s body could be fished out from the canal while search was for Kashif’s.
DEPORTEES: As many as 168 people deported from Turkey were handed over to FIA’s newly-established Gujrat Circle on Saturday for further investigation.
Circle in charge Inspector Shahid Nawaz Warracih told Dawn that most of the deportees landing at Islamabad were from the districts of Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujranwala.
He said FIA would interrogate the deportees to get clues to the human traffickers involved in sending them to Turkey illegally.
