ISLAMABAD, Oct 17: Russian Mikhail Vasiliev and Slovakian Adrian Sikora will clash for top honors in the men’s singles-final after defeating their respective opponents in semi-finals of the ITF Pakistan Futures International Tennis Championship played at the PTF Tennis Complex on Friday.
In the first semi-final Mikhail Vasiliev (Russia) won the toss and chose to receive service.
He broke the Lee’s first game playing powerful cross courts down the lines, than held the second game and built up the winning lead 2-0.
Vasiliev won the first set 6-3 by breaking Lee’s ninth game.
In the second set the Russian built up the lead 2-0 breaking second game of Lee by hitting two powerful shots down the line. He won the second in the same fashion 6-3.
In the days second fixture unseeded Adrian Sikora (Slovakia) outplayed Maniel Bains (UK) in straight sets 6-1 6-1. In the first set Sikora built up the winning lead 3-0 by breaking the second game of Baines and won the first set 6-1. Sikora broke the third, fifth and seventh game of Baines and won the second set at 6-1.
Chen I-Ta & Lee Hsin–Han (China) caused a major upset in the men’s doubles category when the defeated second seed Abbdukhalikov S (Kazakhstan) & Vasiliev Mikhail (Russia) in a thrilling three set match.
Abbdukhalikov S (Kazakhstan) & Vasiliev Mikhail (Russia) won the first set 6-4 breaking seventh game of Chen.
Lee & Chen won the second set in the same fashion 6-4 breaking the 10th game of their opponents.
The final set played Super Tie break in which both teams required to win first 10 points. In the final set Chen and Lee build up the lead 6-0 in the Super tie break and won the set at 10-2. The Chinese pair qualified for the men’s doubles final.
