FAISALABAD, Oct 14: Industrialists and Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (Fesco) reached an agreement for eight hours scheduled loadshedding in the district and decision would be enforced from Wednesday (today).

The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting at the district coordination officer’s (DCO’s) office after a violent protest by powerlooms workers. City Police Officer Aslam Tareen and DCO Saeed Iqbal mediated between both parties to reach a consensus over the issue of power outages.

Industrialists and traders severely criticised Fesco officials for, what they said, not paying any heed to industry and traders’ problems. They urged Fesco officials to restore the schedule they had been following prior to Ramazan.

Sources said major textile mills would also face six hours loadshedding, which would be from 6pm to 12pm.

Earlier, big units were exempted from power outages. Independent feeders will also be closed from 9am to 11am, 6pm to 10pm.

Similarly Clock Tower bazaars will also face power suspension from 2am to 3am, 5am to 7am, 10am to 11am, 1pm to 2pm and 8pm to 10pm.

However, the meeting did not decide schedule for domestic consumers.

A Fesco spokesman said decision regarding domestic consumers would also be taken soon.

Fesco chief Ahmed Saeed apprised the participants about electricity being provided to the company.
