LAHORE, Oct 13: The Pakistan National Christian League (PNCL) has urged the government to introduce a separate electorate system for the representation of the minorities in legislative assemblies because those elected under the joint electorate system have failed to resolve their problems.

Masihi Jamhoori Party leader Chaudhry Albert Sindhu, Pastor Zafar Daniel and Dr S. Yaqub Bhatti voiced the demand at a meeting of the PNCL held here with Sardar Anjum Bhatti in chair. They said that only the Christians having links with major political parties were elected on minority seats under the joint electorate and continued minting money instead of serving their community. Those elected on minority seats represented the Muslim political parties instead of the Christians. They demanded increasing minority seats as the minority population had reached 30 million. — Reporter
