LAHORE, Oct 10: Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Director-General Muhammad Khalid says that government of United Arab Emirates is giving compensation to children formerly involved in camel racing in the UAE and came back to Pakistan after 1993.

Reacting to a Sept 22 news report, he said 48 children had been given compensation while the cases of 328 others had been approved for compensation.

He also said the next administrative board meeting was expected later this month.

He said Mr Zaheer Ahmed quoted in the report was not a Unicef official. He was rather working on a contract basis with the bureau.
