MURREE, Oct 9: Highwaymen robbed people of Rs300,000 in cash, jewelery and cellphone on Murree road near Salgran Bridge on Wednesday night.
The victims said four dacoits blocked the road late in the night and looted people traveling in 14 vehicles. They remained busy for about one and half hour with complete freedom as no police turned up.
The dacoits armed with automatic weapons were threatening the victims against resistance, told Faisal Saraf a local jeweler who was also among the victims. It may be mentioned here that a newly established police patrolling post was just one and half kilometer away from the site of the incident.
This post was manned by a considerable number of staff with the sole purpose to patrol Murree road. —Correspondent
