Villagers protest against Hesco

DADU, Oct 4: A large number of people from Shahmir Gadhi village took out a rally in Johi town on Saturday in protest against the Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company (Hesco) for disconnecting electricity to their water supply scheme.

Shah Mohammad Gadhi, Akbar Gadhi and Ali Mohammad were leading the protesters. Shah Mohammad Gadhi accused Hesco line superintendent of Johi for disconnecting power supply on refusal to pay him Rs5,000 in bribe thus disrupting water supply to 10 villages.

Akbar Gadhi warned of continuing the protest over failure to take action against line superintendent. However, power was restored to the water supply scheme.

Meanwhile, residents of Janwari and Jogi mohallas of Radhan town staged a protest rally in Radhan town on Saturday against disconnection of power supply to the area for last three days. They were led by Ahmed Khan and Nawab Ali.

Ahmed Khan said that citizens paid their bills every month but Hesco officials kept demanding bribe and on refusal sent them detection and inflated bills and disconnected power supply of their area.

He demanded action against Hesco officials and restoration of power to their area.

ARRESTED: Johi police have arrested four outlaws after a brief encounter at Khir Mori on Indus highway near Johi town on Saturday.

The arrested included Mohammad Panhwar, Abdul Karim Mallah, Yasin Panhwar and Allah ditto Qambrani. DSP Headquarters Dadu, Allah Rakhio Jamali told reporters that one shotgun, one rifle, two pistols and cartridges were recovered from their possession.

KILLED: One Zulfiqar Badrani was killed on the spot while four others including Gullan, Mohib, Wahid Bux and Wazir were injured when a rickshaw overturned in Bhan town, on Saturday.
