LAHORE, Sept 27: In the wake of growing Eid rush, the Punjab Health Department has started fumigation and medicinal sprays inside trains at the Lahore railway station to prevent growth of mosquitoes causing dengue fever.

The exercise has already been completed at the Rawalpindi railway station.

A meeting, chaired by Director General Health (Punjab) Dr Muhammad Aslam, observed that the risk of dengue fever remained high till October and preventive measures were needed.

However, he said, the people need not worry as no death occurred in Punjab from dengue fever in the last two to three years and there was only one per cent incidence of death in dengue fever cases.

The DG told the participants, including EDO (Health) Dr Nasir Awan, to raise public awareness in this regard.—APP
