KHANEWAL, Sept 27: More than 40 lecturers of the Government Degree College for Boys on Saturday protested, in a written statement, against physical assault on a college peon allegedly by four men of a sensitive agency.

The statement, bearing signatures of College Principal Abida Fatima and 42 lecturers, revealed that on Thursday, wife of an officer of the sensitive agency came to the college and asked peon Imran to call her daughter, a first-year student. She wanted to take her daughter along with her.

The peon told her to get permission from the principal or the authority concerned, but she forcibly took her daughter with her.

At about 1600hrs the same day, four men of the sensitive agency took Imran along with them at their office and thrashed him. They released him after getting his signatures on a paper.

The college teaching staff demanded a probe into the matter.

On the other hand, the officer of the sensitive agency claimed the peon had misbehaved with his wife. He said he lodged a complaint with the principal, but to no avail. He rejected the allegation of beating Imran.

SUMMONED: The additional district and sessions judge on Saturday summoned sub-inspector Noor Elahi of the Sarai Sadhu police station on Oct 6 for recording his statement in the murder case of Darkhana Union Nazim Khizer Hayat Tauroo.
