HYDERABAD, Sept 27: The secretary-general of the Sindh Hari Committee, M.S. Bhurgari, on Friday said that the members of the committee would celebrate Eidul Fitr with simplicity to express solidarity with poor peasants, workers, widows and orphans who had almost no means to celebrate Eid in a befitting manner.

In a statement, he said that the exploitative system had deprived poor haris, workers widows and orphans of all rights and they could not even manage two meals a day due to the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities.

Therefore, the Sindh Hari Committee workers would celebrate Eid in a simple manner in protest against the feudal system, he said.

He alleged that massive embezzlements had been reported in Baitul Maal, Ushr and Zakat funds and the needy were being deprived of their share by corrupt officials. He regretted that no punishment was being awarded to these officials.

CLOTHES DISTRIBUTED: Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil distributed clothes and ration among the blind people, including women, at his secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the blind persons had also the right to celebrate Eid.

He said the district government considered it its duty to distribute clothes and ration among the blind people to give them a sense of participation on Eid.

He said the disabled persons were an integral part of society and added that it was the duty of the philanthropists to come to the aid of the have-nots.

He said the district government would do everything possible for the welfare of the blind people on a priority basis.

ANIMAL HUSBANDRY: Reviewing the status of veterinary services being provided to the livestock farmers, a meeting held here on Friday has decided that awareness should be created among the farmers to seek veterinary services only from veterinarians.

The meeting observed that the concept of community livestock and extension workers, recently introduced under the Prime Minister’s initiatives programme was only to facilitate farmers in their day-to-day problems.
