KARACHI, Oct 24: Wapda recorded their second win in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I National Cricket Championship when they defeated PIA by 98 runs at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad Wednesday.
Wapda’s victory lift them into eighth spot in the standings, above ADBP and Sui Gas, says a message here.
PIA looked on course to save the match when they reached 105 for one in pursuit of a target of 322 but like in the first innings, the middle-order fell like a pack of cards.
Only Mahmood Hamid, who was promoted to No 3, batted with some conviction to compile exactly 50 in 134 minutes off 87 deliveries. Opener Sohail Jaffar (45 off 75 balls) and Yasir Hameed (39 off 85 balls) were able to pass 20.
Wickets were evenly shared among the Wapda pace quartet. Faisal Irfan captured three for 43 while Kashif Raza, Raees Amjad and Kamran Hussain took two wickets conceding 47, 56 and 59 runs respectively.
