TIMERGARA, Sept 22: Four people were killed and three injured in exchange of fire between two rival groups over a family dispute in Maidan area on Monday, locals and police told Dawn.
According to sources, Gulab, resident of Machala Maidan, shot dead three relatives of his wife in Gumbat Banda village of Maidan, after they refused to hand over his wife, who had been living with her parents after leaving her husband’s house. The dead were identified as Bakht Bacha, Roohul Amin and Shoaib Khan.
Gulab also opened indiscriminate fire on other villagers injuring three persons identified as Saad Mohammad, Parvez Khan and Farmanullah who were rushed to DHQ hospital Timergara
The villagers retaliated and shot dead the accused Gulab and refused to hand over his body to his relatives.
Later, a local jirga resolved the matter and body of Gulab was turned over to his relatives. The Lal Qilla police registered a case and started investigation, the sources said.
POLICEMEN INJURED: Four police officials, including a station house officer, were slightly injured when their mobile van was hit by a remote-controlled bomb, planted on a roadside at Malala Khawar, late on Sunday night, police said.
Constables Nasir, Lal Shabaz, Mohammad Rafique and driver Sher Zamin along with SHO Munda Iqbal Khan were on a routine patrol and were going back to the police station in Khazana area.
The van, sources said, was partially damaged. The injured were rushed to Munda hospital where they were discharged after the first aid. No group or organisation has accepted responsibility of the attack.
BAJAUR IDPS GET RELIEF: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Monday distributed food and non-food items among Bajaur IDPs housed at camps in Samar Bagh and Degree College Timergara, Ahmad Hussain, the team leader of the society told Dawn here.
He said relief activities were getting momentum with the passage of time and more assistance was expected in near future.
