HARIPUR, May 8: A socks manufacturing unit was burnt in Hattar industrial estate here on Monday night, police sources said. The cause of the fire was stated to be short-circuit, sources claimed. No loss of life or injury to any worker was reported.
According to the factory administration, the routine production of socks was in progress at the Hattar Olympics Socks Industry when all of a sudden one of the machines caught fire, which engulfed the other three machines.
The fire, which destroyed all the four machines at the factory, was, however, brought under control after several hours of struggle by the firefighters of Hattar industrial estate.
ROAD ACCIDENTS: An elderly man and an eight-year-old girl died in different road accidents here on Tuesday. Lubna was run over by a speeding van. She died on the spot.
Qadir Shah, resident of village Moosa, was hit by a Rawalpindi-bound passenger van.
