SUKKUR, Sept 18: Ghotki police in an encounter claimed to have killed a dacoit and injuring another at Pir Bari Chowk in Khanpur Mahar police station’s limits on Thursday.

Police sources said, on a tip-off that a group of armed dacoits was hiding near Pir Bari Chowk, a police party headed by the incharge Suhanjhro police checkpost reached on the spot. Seeing the police the dacoits opened fire. As a result of one hour of exchange of gunfire, dacoit Hakim alias Palo Bozdar was killed, while his accomplice Yasin alias Sheeno Pitafi was injured. However he was taken away by their other accomplices.

Police claimed that a rifle and two guns and bullets were recovered from the dacoit.

After post-mortem at civil hospital Mirpur Mathelo body of Hakim Bozdar was handed over to his wife Zarina.

Police claimed that Hakim was wanted to Khanpur Mahar police in seven cases of murder and kidnapping.

On the other hand Zarina told local newsmen that police had an encounter with the gang of Yasin alias Sheeno Pitafi and while chasing the dacoits, police reached at Pir Bari Chowk, where her husband, Hakim, was standing outside the house police killed him there and declared that he was a dacoit and was killed in the ‘encounter’.

BABY DIES: A 10-month-old girl was killed and her parents and brother were injured in a road accident, near Rohri on Wednesday night.

Nazir Umrani along with his wife Anwar Khatoon, son Dittal Umrani, and 10-month-old daughter Saima was going on a motorcycle to Rohri. He banged into a donkey cart and fell. Resultantly his innocent daughter Saima was killed on the spot, while he and his wife and son were injured and shifted to taluka hospital, Rohri, where condition of Anwar Khatoon was said to be critical.
