ISLAMABAD, Sept 18: The Ministry of Housing and Works has constituted a committee to make out-of-turn allotment of official accommodation to government employees more transparent and on merit.

Joint secretary ministry of housing and works Fakhar Zaman will be the chairman of the allotment committee while estate officer Sher Afzal Khan Marwat will act as its member. The main purpose of the committee is to ensure merit and transparency in the allotment process.

An official of the housing ministry told this reporter that all applications received for out-of-turn allotment would be processed by the committee. The committee would send these applications to the estate office which would dig out all details and particulars of the applicants. These cases along with details would be sent back to the allotment committee which would make final decision whether to allot the said house/flat or quarter to the applicants.

If there is more than one applicant, the committee will decide the most deserving for allotment of the accommodation.

Formation of the allotment committee will also reduce burden on the federal housing minister and the estate officer who are always thronged by accommodation seekers. It will also spare the poor applicants from the trouble of going time and again to the office of the minister or the estate officer and running after different officers in pursuance of their case. —Staff Reporter
