NAWABSHAH, Sept 17: The chemists and druggists association of Nawabshah observed a shutter-down strike and staged a rally on Wednesday in protest against arrest of a fellow chemist.

The protesters led by Deedar Ali Rind and Shakeel Rajput told journalists that one heavily drunk Shahid Jamali, son of 60-Miles police station SHO Rasool Bux Jamali caused quite a rumpus at Akash Medical Store on Tuesday night when he asked for wine and was told the store did not sell wine.

He misbehaved with store the owner Akash, swore at him in public and threatened him of dire consequences, they said and added that they called Madadgar 15 for help, who came and took him away.

They said that when they reached the A-Section police station to get a complaint lodged police refused to register their case and instead locked up the complainant. An SPO took away the accused with him saying that he would not allow his medical test, they said.

Meanwhile, the SPO of Town Aslam Langah reached the press club and persuaded the protesters to end their strike, after which they ended protest.

DPO Rukhsar Ahmed Khuhawar later suspended the SHO of 60-Miles Rasool Bux Jamali, ordered arrest of his son and issued a show-cause notice to the newly-posted SHO of A-Section Shabbir Jamali.
