ADB, IDB in $4bn deal

DHAKA, Sept 16: The Asian Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank agreed a $4 billion deal to finance infrastructure and utilities projects in their member countries.

Under the agreement, both institutions will provide up to $2 billion each over the next three years, they said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

The funds may also be used to finance education, and other projects in Afghanistan, Azerbai-jan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kaz-akhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Maldi-ves, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
