DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 13: Dwellers of Allahabad katchi abadi protested against police raid for their evacuation from the locality just before Iftar on Saturday.

Reports said landlord Abbas Garwan had filed a complaint with the police stating that the land of the locality belonged to him and the people had illegally occupied it.

On the other hand, residents claimed that they had been living in the settlement since long and no one could deprive them of their rights. On Saturday, cops from four police stations raided the Allahabad colony just before Iftar to evacuate the dwellers.

On receipt of information, former MNA Meena Ehsan Leghari reached the spot to express solidarity with the residents. After her arrival the police went away.

The former MNA termed the raid inhuman and violation of human rights. She told the protesters that she would talk to the governor in this regard. She assured them that their rights would be protected.
