LAHORE, Sept 11: Three PPP ministers sought on Thursday removal of the Punjab chief secretary, alleging that he had frozen development funds of the PPP ministers and other lawmakers as a part of what they called the victimisation policy of the government.
The ministers, who have not been attending their offices under instructions from the party leadership, said in a statement that the chief secretary had ordered all provincial secretaries not to carry out any development activity in the constituencies of the PPP lawmakers.
Tanveerul Islam, Yousaf Ghurki and Haji Ishaq said the DCOs and police officials were also not cooperating with them.
On the other hand, they said, all fair and unfair demands of the PML-Q forward bloc members were being met.
“We are allies of the PML-N, not asking for charity,” said the PPP ministers, who added that their patience should not be taken as their weakness.
They said they had been elected by the people and would do their best to solve their problems at all costs.
Meanwhile, Senior Minister Raja Riaz, Finance Minister Tanveer Ashraf Kaira, Prime Minister’s Adviser Mian Manzoor Wattoo and PML-Q MPA Najaf Sial met Governor Salman Taseer and exchanged views about the political situation in the province, especially with reference to differences between the PPP and the PML-N.
