KARACHI, Sept 9: The Sindh education department has constituted a 16-member committee to carry out inspection of private schools in the province.

The committee, which will be headed by Chief Minister’s Adviser Rashid Rabbani, has been assigned the task of visiting private schools, check fee structures and submit its recommendations to the department within 30 days.

According to the terms of reference, the committee will check the fee structure of private schools across the province in the wake of recent complaints from parents of school children about an exorbitant increase in fees by certain schools.

The inspection team will also monitor and ensure that the subject of the Sindhi language is being taught in private schools in pursuance of the relevant laws.

The name of any such member of the committee who failed to participate in the inspection on three consecutive visits without giving any reason would be reported to the senior minister for education who might exclude him from the committee, a circular of the education department said.

The director private institutions, Sindh, Mansoob Hussain Siddiqui, will be the secretary-cum-member of the committee while its other members include Chief Minister’s Adviser Sardar Mohammad Ismail Dahiri, MPA Dr Salim Hingoro, MPA Humera Alwani, MPA Farzana Hanif Baloch, Dr Mirza Akhtiar Beg, Saeed Ghani, Pir Abdul Rasheed, education minister’s coordinator Shoukat Ali Shah, Khalil Qureshi, advocate, Suhail Ansari, Waqar Mehdi, former minister Lal Bukhsh Bhutto, Najmi Alam and Salman Abdullah Murad.
