Minor killed in wall collapse

LAHORE, Sept 7: A minor girl was killed while three other children sustained injuries in a wall collapse at Alipura near Badami Bagh railway crossing No 5 on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the children, who were playing at the time of the incident, were trapped under the debris.

Badami Bagh police said Bhola was raising wall of his house with mud when it caved in and fell on the three children of his neighbour Sakawat and a child of another neighbour.

Rescuers removed the victims and found one of them -- Rukhsar, 5, dead while Aneeza, 3, Sangeeta, 9, and Abid, 11, sustained injuries.

The injured were admitted to Mayo Hospital.

DROWNS: A 25-year-old youth drowned in an open drain after receiving an electric shock in Shadman area on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Gul Muhammad of Peshawar.

Edhi officials, while quoting witnesses, said Gul was collecting discarded papers from the pile of garbage near an open drain when he accidentally touched an electric wire, received a severe shock and fell into the drain.

Some locals spotted his body and informed the police which shifted it to the morgue. — Staff Reporter
