MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 29: Sixteen children suffering from gastroenteritis were admitted to the DHQ Hospital here on Thursday night.
Reports said that the children from four families of Basti Maharan were brought to the emergency ward for treatment.
Dr Irshad Ahmed Qalandrani confirmed that the children, all under 12 years of age, were the gastroenteritis patients.
Health officials are putting blame on the Tehsil Municipal Administration staff for their failure to provide clean water which has triggered the disease in the area.
The children admitted to hospital were identified as Ayesha, Usman, Jawayria, Misbah, Aiman, Ozaifa, Bilal, Zubair, Aleeza, Sheeza , Muhammad Basit, Sheeraz, Masooma, Mohammad Asif, Ghulam Mustafa, Naik Parveen and Azra.

Dr Mushtaq said that gastroenteritis was not only spreading in Muzaffargarh but in most part of the country because of the contaminated drinking water.
PO ARRESTED: A proclaimed offender, who had escaped from the lock-up at the district court two days back, was re-arrested on Friday.
Reports said that two dacoits Shabbir and Sajjad had killed a retired army official on resistance near Chowk Qureshi on May 20.
Police had arrested both the accused who confessed to have looted and killed the retired army official.
DPO Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan had ordered the arrest of sub-inspector Shaukat Hayat and 10 other policemen for negligence.
