SANGHAR, Aug 26: Angry farmers beat up fertiliser dealers and the police baton charged the farmers to control the situation in Tando Adam on Tuesday.

Hundreds of farmers led by Mehboob Mari, Shamshad Thaheem, Ghulam Hyder, Abdul Rehman Keerio, Anwar Chakrani and others were protesting against fertiliser shortage. In the meantime, the protesters came to know that two truck loads of fertiliser have reached the fruit and vegetable market. The farmers immediately rushed to the market.

The fertiliser belonged to dealers Sohail Ansari and Suresh Kumar who refused to sell it on government-fixed price.

As a result, the farmers thrashed both the dealers. The police reached the spot and resorted to baton charge to disperse the farmers. The DDO revenue and the DDO agriculture also reached there. They impounded both the trailers with the help of the police and sold the fertiliser at the control rate of Rs635 per bag.
