ATTOCK, Aug 25: The local police have taken fifteen suspects into custody and are interrogating them in connection with the video/CD shops blast case.

However, no clue has been found to the elements involved in the incident, sources said here on Monday.

A six-member police team has been formed to probe into the video/CD shops blast in the city. The police team led by SP (investigation) Raja Hassan Akhtar comprises DSP (investigation) Chaudhry Aslam, DSP Saddar Mumtaz Hussain, SHOs City and Attock Khurd.

The team has started a probe into the three bomb blasts in which 24 video/CD shops were blown up at Safdar Plaza here on Sunday morning. Four persons were injured in the incidents.

It may be noted that no joint investigating team has been constituted to probe into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Attock City police have registered a terrorism case against the unknown terrorists on the report of Malik Hamid Safdar, the owner of Safdar Plaza.

When contacted, the SP investigation said 10 to 15 suspects had been included in the investigation which was being carried out on different lines.

He claimed that the investigation team would trace the culprits very soon, adding the involvement of local extremist elements and facilitators could not be ruled out in the incident.

He said as per ground evidence and technical opinion of the bomb disposal squads, dynamite like explosive was used in the incident. “It was only a threatening attempt by the terrorists as the blasts occurred in the early hours. He said the blasts could have caused more destruction had it occurred in the working hours as the market remains crowded with customers.

Meanwhile, a meeting held at the office of district coordination officer reviewed law and order situation in the district in the backdrop of the Sunday bomb blasts and threats to the CD and barbers shops by Tehrik-i-Talban Pakistan.

District police officer Fakhar Sultan Raja and other officials also attended the meeting which discussed security measures to be taken to ensure life and property of citizens.

Afterwards, the police and district administration officials also held meetings with the authorities of Pakistan ordnance factory at Sanjwal and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra in connection with the security arrangements.

Fear, insecurity and uncertainty prevail among the local residents particularly those who are running business of video/CD shops, hair dressing and beauty parlours.

Meanwhile, local politicians expressed concern over the bombing of the video/CD market and termed it an attempt to destroy peace and create unrest in Attock. They said people should forge unity among their ranks to foil such negative acts. They sympathise with those whose shops were destroyed in the blast.

The political leaders also visited the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital Attock to inquire after the injured persons.

It is worth mentioning here that except Naib Nazim Attock Sameen Khan, no public representative has bothered to contact the district administration to discuss the prevailing alarming situation in the area.

Only Mr Khan had held a meeting with DCO Attock Saqib Zafar and reviewed the law and order situation.
