PESHAWAR, Oct 24: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah on Wednesday said the government had distributed resources among the district governments, which, he added, were empowered to prioritize areas for development.
He was talking to a delegation of the Frontier Women Welfare Association at the Governor’s House.
The governor assured the delegation that the government would encourage welfare organizations to put in selfless service for the well-being of people.
Under the new scheme of things, he said, people must have access to the elected representatives at the local level for the resolution of their problems.
He was optimistic that the new dispensation would resolve all the problems.
He said the decision to encourage the private sector had started showing results. “It has marked a trend of competition between the public and private sectors, and would also ensure the quality of work,” he said.
The government, he pointed out, had opened up all fields for women to prove their worth.
“Women have been given all opportunities and they should come forward and get benefit of it.
“We are also exploring avenues of employment for the skilled manpower through a uniform policy,” the governor said.
