RAWALPINDI, Aug 22: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani on Friday directed the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of Waris Khan to initiate an inquiry against some police officials of the area who allegedly trespassed on the house of a woman and disgraced her in the police station.

Noureen Bibi, a resident of Dhoke Khaba in a complaint to the RPO alleged that some policemen including a sub-inspector (SI) and two assistant sub-inspectors (ASI) entered the house of her sister-in-law on Aug 15 without any warrants and arrested Arshad, the son of her sister-in-law.

She said when she enquired about the crime of Arshad the policemen misbehaved and abused her and took him away forcibly. When she went to the Waris Khan police station to learn about the charges against Arshad she was abused again by the policemen and when Arshad protested all the policemen present there allegedly tortured him.

The complainant said despite the order from an additional sessions judge the police did not carry out medical examination of the injured Arshad.

She further alleged that when Junaid, bother of Arshad, went to the police station to deliver his clothes he was, too, implicated in a narcotics case.

Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge (ASJ) issued arrest warrants of the Westridge police station SHO for not appearing in the court despite repeated summons seeking explanation as to why he was not lodging an FIR in a case.

According to information Ali Muhammad had moved the court for the registration of a case after the Westridge police did not entertain his complaint.

On the other hand, the RPO in a press release said that FIR rooms were being established in police stations with the aim to build public credence and confidence by providing professional, pragmatic and public friendly complaint lodging services.

The FIR rooms have been built in two stations and the other four police stations would have them soon.

The staff for these rooms will work in three shifts every day after they will be given proper training in public dealing in collaboration with an NGO.
