KARACHI: Four killed in separate incidents

KARACHI, Aug 18: At least four people were killed on Monday in separate incidents in parts of the city, police said.

They said a 30-year-old-man was shot dead in Gulistan-i-Jauhar. The police said the victim, Ijaz, son of Sultan, hailed from Attock and he was killed over a land dispute with Akbar Baloch and Khalid, who had been nominated in the FIR (419/2008) registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother-in-law, Sanaullah. They said that the incident took place around 3pm near Kamran Chowrangi.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Sources at the hospital said that the victim had received a fatal bullet wound in his chest.

Shot dead

A 20-year-old man was shot dead in F.C Area in Liaquatabad.

The Sharifabad police said that Mohammed Arsalan, son of Mohammed Ramzan, was sitting outside the compound of his residential plaza when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on him.

They said that the young man was fatally wounded in the attack and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The police have registered a murder case against unknown culprits on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Mohammed Shafique. They said that the victim was unemployed.

Accident

A 64-year-old pensioner was killed when a fast-moving minibus hit him in Landhi.

The minibus driver sped away after the incident and the police registered a case against the unknown driver of the minibus (JE-6968) on the complaint of the victim’s grandson.

The police said that the victim, Shahzad Khan, son of Sardar Khan, was the resident of house No. 22/9, F. C Area, Landhi No. 6, and he was going to a nearby bank to collect his pension.

The police said that efforts were on to track down the owner and the driver of the minibus.

In another road accident a 28-year-old woman was killed when she was hit by a motorcyclist near Clifton underpass.

The victim was shifted to the JPMC where she was identified as Lubna, wife of Qaviur Rehman, resident of Landhi.

The police said the motorcyclist, Hazrat Khan, who was booked in the case, also got injured in the accident.

Body found

The body of a drowned man was found lying near the beach in the limits of Boat Basin.

It was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the dead man remained unidentified.

Hospital sources said the victim, clad in light grey shalwar qamees, appeared to be in his early 30s. They said the victim was believed to have been a picnicker who died due to drowning as his body did not bear any wound or any mark of torture.

The body was later kept at the Edhi morgue for want of identification.
