RAWALPINDI, Aug 17: Two persons were killed and eight others injured in separate traffic accidents in Rawalpindi-Islamabad on Sunday, police said.

The first accident occurred on Kahuta road near Soan when a car in which four members of a family were travelling collided with a truck coming from the opposite side killing Hamza Bashir, 24, on the spot and seriously injuring Rais Kiani, 22, Akhtar, 16, and Awais, 25.

Rescue 1122 ambulances shifted the injured to the Rawalpindi General Hospital where they were stated to be in critical conditions. The truck driver escaped after the accident.

In another accident, Safina, 40, was killed and five members of her family were injured when their car plunged into a ravine near Tarnol.

The injured identified as Imran, 38, Hajira, 4, Zain, 7, Zeeshan, 5, and Sohaib were shifted to Pims and Holy Family Hospital, where two of them were in critical condition. The family was coming to Rawalpindi from Fetahjang.

Meanwhile, a house was ransacked by four robbers, while four vehicles were either snatched or stolen in different parts of Rawalpindi on Saturday.

Bakht Munir told the Ganjmandi police that four robbers entered his house and held the family at gunpoint and looted cash (amount unspecified) and other valuables.

Abdul Ghafoor complained to the Civil Lines police that two persons booked his taxi for Dehri Hassanabad. After reaching a deserted place, they snatched the vehicle at gunpoint and escaped.

Mubashir Sardar’s car was stolen from outside his house in Wah Cantt, Mohammad Younis’ pickup was taken away from New Town while Ameer Hussain’s motorcycle was lifted from Westridge.
