SWABI, Aug 17: Peace and tranquillity could be restored in the NWFP under the non-violence philosophy.

“The great Pakhtun leader Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan always advocated for peaceful co-existence and resolving of disputes by peaceful means,” Provincial Education Minister Sardar Hussain Babak said, adding that the entire world had admitted that under this philosophy restoration of peace in the crisis-ridden NWFP and tribal belt was possible.

The provincial education minister and Minister for Zakat and Usher Zar Shaid Khan were addressing a gathering at the Shahbaz Khan Welfare Trust here on Sunday.

They distributed prizes among the students who stood first and second in the secondary school certificate and inter examinations from Dagai Union council.

“We are still sticking with the same philosophy and want peace in our regions because without calm, there would be no progress and prosperity in the region. We could not achieve our objectives without peace,” he added.

Mr Babak said that they disturbance and violence faced by the Awami National Party-led government was the legacy of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government. “Still we hope that the situation will be improved,” he claimed.

Minister Zar Shaid said that President Musharraf was the centre of all problems and once he was removed from the presidency the confronting problems would be resolved one by one. Mr Khan claimed that the ANP had played a key role in the struggle to show the doors to the president or face impeachment.
