LAHORE, Aug 14: Women rowers Lahore Tigers stood first in the day-long Independence Day rowing championship here at the Lahore Canal on Thursday.

The winning team comprising Neelam Shahzadi, Rukhsana Aslam, Razia Perveen and Mehwish Yasmeen covered the 500-metre distance in the four sculls competition in three minutes and 8.43 seconds to secure the first spot.

In the men’s competition, the University of Lahore team made up by Nazar Abbas, Usama Ahmed, Jabbar Jut, Faisal and Manan secured the first position, while Fazal Ahmed, Khurram Sahazad, Imran Arshad, Ehsan Wali and Irfan of Tahir of Lahore Boat Club came second.—Sports Reporter
