SHIKARPUR, Aug 12: Gastroenteritis has broken out in Shikarpur district due to unhygienic conditions prevailing after the rainwater accumulated in low-lying areas, mud and debris on roads.
Over the past six days more than 500 patients of gastroenteritis have been brought to the government hospitals and other private medical centres in the district.
Two women, Husna Mehar, 45, of Khanpur town and Safia, 35, of Shikarpur suffering from gastroenteritis, expired at Khanpur taluka hospital and Civil Hospital Shikarpur on Monday night.
Chief Resident Medical Officer of Civil Hospital of Shikarpur Dr Partab A Talib said that around 30 to 35 gastroenteritis patients were being reported daily at the civil hospital, besides gastroenteritis patients were being admitted at taluka hospitals and other government and private medical centres in the district.
