Top seeds move into second round

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11: The first leg matches of the main draw of Askari Bank ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championship for boys and girls were played on the opening day at the PTF Tennis Complex on Monday.

A total of twenty one ties were decided on the first day in which all top seeds moved into the second round.

Sadan ul Haq (Pakistan) walloped Gurmohit Singh (India) in a well contested three set match winning the match 6-2,4-6,6-4.

Punn Bodhidatta (Thailand) struggled hard to beat Pakistani qualifier Mohammad Mushtaq Abid in another good three set match winning it 2-6,6-4,6-4. Singh Saurabh (India) got the walkover against the second seed Tartik N. Sai (India) who did not report for the match.

All the seeded players moved into the second round by winning their respective matches in straight sets. Top seed Nasir Mushtaq Ahmed (Pakistan) also displayed a good game hammering Manider Singh (India) in two sets winning it 6-3,6-2.

Five matches were played in the girl’s singles event. Rawat Priyanka (India) and Peeraya Charoensirisutthikul (Thailand) eliminated Qurat ul Ain and Ushna Suhail (Pakistan) in three sets thrilling sets.
