KARACHI, Aug 6: A three-day basketball course for women technical officials concluded here on Wednesday with some 21 participants successfully acquiring basic knowledge of the game.
The experts threw light on various aspects of the game in the course which was aimed at grooming the officials to conduct the women’s matches solely in future.
The participants went through theory and practical sessions at the CDGK Women’s Sports Complex before undertaking a theoretical test.
Director of the course, Karim Mughal, who is also Principal of Physical Education College, delivered lectures on violations and fouls.
Amna Mukhtar, secretary of the course and a lecturer in Physical Education Department, Karachi University, dwelt on history, injuries, regulation, etc, while HEC coach, Zafar Iqbal spoke on score sheet and general fouling. Tariq Hussain conducted demonstration and signaling.
Held under the aegis of Sindh Amateur Basketball Association, the first-ever course for women technical officials was designed on the FIBA rules book the world governing body of the game.
Mohammad Iqbal Nawaz, District Officer Sports, Community Development Department, CDGK, distributed certificates among the participants at the closing ceremony.
