JACOBABAD: Three accused in robbery case arrested

JACOBABAD, Aug 6: Three out of six people accused of robbing 250 Hindu women of over half a kilogramme of gold ornaments at a religious gathering here two weeks ago had been arrested, claimed DPO Saqib Ismail Memon on Wednesday.

He said that the accused had been identified as Shahzad Thaheem, Mithal Thaheem and Abdul Nabi Junejo. The remaining three would be arrested soon, he said.

He said that the recovered ornaments had been deposited with the court and the arrested robbers had been put in police custody.

President of Hindu Panchayat Lalchand Sitlani said that some notables of Thaheem tribe had made contacts with the Panchayat and assured it that their people were not involved in the robbery.

Lalchand said he told them that he would give them a final reply after a meeting of Hindu community to be called soon discussed the issue.

He said that Brijlal had lodged the FIR against unknown people at the city police station, stating that 300 tolas (over half a kilogramme) of gold ornaments had been snatched from women at a prayer hall.

KILLED: Unknown assailants killed a man when he was asleep in his home in Alipur village in the jurisdiction of Saddar police station late on Tuesday night.
