BADIN, Aug 6: EDO of revenue Javed Akram cancelled 42 transfer orders for change of ownership of 484 acres of land, which had been issued fraudulently by the former DO, sources in the revenue department said on Wednesday.

The former DO Sadiq Rajar issued the transfer orders (TOs) when he was briefly assigned the additional charge of revenue officer. He was now in jail facing trial under 13/D, the sources said.

The inquiry into the bogus allotment of land conducted by Deputy District Officer Nazeer Ahmed Qureshi on DCO’s orders revealed that 38 bogus TO forms had been detected and four forms confiscated during investigation and inspection of record from Jan 1, 2003 to June 30, 2008.

The sources said that Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza recommended inquiry against the former DO after he received complaints from some farmers that some influential persons had fraudulently got agricultural land. More bogus TOs were detected in Tando Bago, where 18 TOs had been issued for an area of 260 acres and 25 ghuntas fraudulently allotted to Faqir Mohammad, Mitho Bhoot, Wali Mohammad and others, the sources said.

In Badin taluka, 18 bogus TOs for 160 acres 37 ghuntas granting land to Mir Abdul Salam, Yar Mohammad Jamali, Mohammad Ali Dal and others and two TOs for 17 acres 21 ghuntas land in Matli taluka and four TOs for land in Shaheed Fazil Rahu taluka had been fraudulently issued, said he sources.

The district officer said that that report about cancellation of TOs had been sent to higher authorities for further proceedings. Lands involved in bogus transfer orders would be placed in fresh schedule for their disposal among genuine haris and a meeting to this effect would be held with senior member of Board of Revenue and secretary of Land Utilisation, he added.—BoC
