TIMERGARA, Aug 5: The Lower Dir District Council has condemned the attack on the Levies post and said that some criminal elements were trying to disturb peace in the area.

The District Nazim, Ahmad Hassan Khan, directed the DCO to submit a detailed report on the attack on the Levies post within 24 hours. Convener Zahir Shah presided over the council’s meeting held in Balambat the other day.

The meeting was attended by District Nazim Ahmad Hassan Khan, DCO Suhail Khan, XEN Wapda and other officials of the line department. Union council nazims Ibrahim Khan, Advocate Alam Zeb, Shad Nawaz Khan, Inayatur Rahman, Mushtaq Ali and Lateefur Rahman, accused the district administration for the worsening law and order situation in the district.

They demanded of the provincial government to transfer DCO Suhail Khan from the district for ‘failing’ to maintain peace in the area.

TNSM RALLY: Tehrik Nifaz-i-Shariat-i-Muhammadi (TNSM) chief Maulana Sufi Mohammad has announced to hold a public rally in Maidan, Swat on August 10th.

Talking to Dawn here on Monday, he said that Sharia could be enforced only when there was peace in the region. Maulana Sufi said that the TNSM had decided to hold a public gathering for this purpose.

He termed the rally as first step towards the enforcement of ‘Sharia Law’ in the Malakand region.

The TNSM’s future line of action, he said would be decided by its divisional Shura members in a meeting to be held after the rally.

It would be the first public meeting of TNSM after the release of Maulana Sufi Mohammad from prison on April 21.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed and three others including two women sustained injuries, when the car they were riding on plunged into River Panjkora at Mandish area, near Timergara on Monday, residents and hospital sources told Dawn.

The car was part of the convoy that was heading to Rabat, Lower Dir from Dargai to attend a wedding ceremony. When the vehicle reached Mandish area, the driver lost control over the car due to over speeding and plunged into the river.
