Traders to besiege Wapda offices

OKARA, July 31: Local traders have threatened to go on strike and besiege Wapda offices in protest against long spells of loadshedding across the district.

Presently, the district is suffering from 12-hour loadshedding.

On Thursday, representatives of various organisations called on acting Wapda superintending engineer Abdul Hameed Manj in his office and protested against the unscheduled loadshedding.

They told Manj that they would block roads and besiege Wapda offices across the district if unscheduled loadshedding was not checked.

Separately, Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Sajjadul Hasan called on the water and power deputy secretary and told him about the problem.

BOOKED: Police have booked the District Ushr and Zakat Committee chairman for power theft. Okara’s Sadar police have registered a case against Mubarak Ali for power theft at his farmhouse in 2/4-L village.

CASE AGAINST SI: Police have registered a case against Sub-Inspector Mirza Rashid Baig for misuse of power in a case under his investigation.
