Expat pays Rs1m for life

SHEIKHUPURA, July 23: An expatriate managed his release after paying Rs1 million ransom to kidnappers in Faizpur locality here on Wednesday.

Reports said that Irfan Akhtar, who had returned from Germany to meet his relatives, was kidnapped on July 18 when he was coming from a market. The kidnappers later demanded Rs1.4 million ransom for his release from victim’s brother Imran Akhtar by phone. Irfan was released after the kidnappers got Rs1 million from his brother on the pledge that the remaining amount would be paid to them a few days later.

The Factory Area police were informed about the incident who was looking into the matter.

LOOTED: Four armed men plundered spare parts worth Rs600,000 from a factory in Al-Saeed Chowk here on Wednesday.

Reports said that bandits entered the factory of Arshad Jehangir, held guards at pistol point, loaded spare parts in a van and fled.

The Factory Area police are investigating.
