Fertiliser Dealers stage rally

OKARA, July 16: Fertilizer dealers took out a rally against the Agriculture department for taking into custody their two colleagues here on Wednesday.

Reports said that DDO (revenue) Iqbal Warraich and agriculture officer Rana Basharat raided the fertilizer market and took into custody dealers Chaudhry Asif and Malik Kashif. Later, they were set free after they paid Rs15,000 fine.

Dozens of fertilizers dealers started their rally from the market and reached the Okara Press Club. Chanting slogans against the officials, the protesters demanded their immediate transfer.

When contacted, DDO Iqbal Warraich claimed that the two dealers were selling fertilizers more than the price fixed by the government.

CHILD DIES: A minor boy died while three other children fainted after taking a pudding prepared in their house in City Government Colony here on Wednesday.

Reports said that the wife of prayer leader Maqbool Ahmad served the pudding to her children after which they fell unconscious. They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital where Ali Shan (5) died while the condition of Ali Sabir (7), Ali Rizwan (3) and one-year-old Ali Hussain was said to be in critical condition.
