LAHORE, July 8: The National Accountability Bureau, Punjab, has filed a reference against a former nazim of Sambrial (Sialkot) on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to a spokesman, the bureau filed the reference under sections 18(g) read with 24 (b) of National Accountability Ordinance 1999 against Muhammad Afzal Shaheen, ex-nazim of union council-90, Sambrial.
According to the reference, the accused during his tenure acquired assets and spent Rs33.39 million whereas his total income for the period was Rs14.47 million. The accused also could not account for the foreign remittances worth Rs9.9 million.
The accused as holder of public office, accumulated assets worth Rs18.9 million illegally and beyond his known sources of income.
