LAHORE, July 6: The Shadman police took a senior superintendent of police (SSP) to Services Hospital for medical examination after he opened fire in public using his official rifle near Tollington Market on Sunday.
SSP Naeem Riaz, who is currently posted at the Central Police Office, left on foot his sister's house in Shadman.
After reaching Tollington Market, he opened fire on stray dogs, mistakenly construing that they were approaching him.
The gunshots created panic among passers-by and worshippers of a nearby mosque ran to save their lives.
In the meantime, someone informed Rescue-15 on which officials of Shadman police reached the spot and started questioning the SSP.
After some arguments, the police took the SSP to the Services Hospital for medical checkup.
