PPP demands interim govt

SUKKUR, May 3: Yasmeen Shah, President PPP Jacobabad, has demanded that President Gen Pervez Musharraf should step down and said that an interim setup should be constituted to hold free and fair elections.

She was speaking at a meeting of PPP women workers in Shah House, Jacobabad, on Friday, which was attended by more than 100 activists.

She said that President Musharraf did not get more than five per cent votes, adding that women all over Pakistan did not cast their votes at all. She said in this situation the president should resign and set up an interim government.

Ms Shah said that the only solution to take out the country from uncertainty and crisis was the setting up of an interim government for the holding of free, fair and transparent election and reorganising independent election commission.

She congratulated the people of Jacobabad, specially women, who rejected the referendum and stayed at home on the polling day.
