VEHARI, June 26: Several non-government organisation activists, including Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), took out a protest procession against honour killing of two women, of Chak 109-WB.
HRCP Coordinator Rashid Rehman led the procession, which demanded the early arrest of the accused.
Shagufta and Rukhsana, cousin to each other, were killed allegedly by their brothers who suspected the women had affairs with someone. The demo submitted a resolution to the district police office demanding action against the alleged killers and dispersed.
DIE FROM HEAT: Two people died and a dozen fell unconscious due to scorching heat.
Malik Yousaf, 60, of Liaqatpura, was going on a bicycle when he collapsed on the road and died.
Fifty-year-old Niaz Bibi, of Chak 5-WB, also died of heat, when she was going to fields from her home, her heirs said.
In the city area, up to a dozen people fell unconscious due to heat and were hospitalised.
Those who fell unconscious include Rahmat Bibi, Imran, Abdul Sattar, Muhammad Din, Faqeer Muhammad, Noreen and Salma. Unscheduled loadshedding has increased the problems of the public.
