KARACHI: No clue yet to culprits of Gulshan robbery

KARACHI, June 23: Police have failed to make any headway in tracking down the gang which committed a robbery in the house of a senior journalist, Mehmood Sham, on Sunday.

The gang of five robbers barged into the house of Mr Sham, group editor of Jang, in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and decamped with cash, jewelry and other valuables after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint.

SP of Gulshan Town Sohail Zafar Chatta told Dawn that a special investigation team comprising SHO, SPO and SIO had so far got no clue to the culprits. “The investigation is under way and we are making hectic efforts to get a clue to the robbers,” he said on Monday.

Minor girl assaulted

A four-year-old girl was criminally assaulted in Ali Brohi Goth, Ibrahim Hayderi, allegedly by a youth who was caught by area people.

Police said that people claimed to have caught the 30-year-old suspect red-handed, adding that some of the enraged people were trying to immolate him when a police team reached there and rescued him. The suspect was later identified as Mohammed Dost Khan, who was booked.
