LAHORE, June 19: The All-Pakistan Transport Owners Federation has threatened to go on strike from June 25 in case its demands are not accepted.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the federation held here on Thursday with Azam Khan Niazi.Federation representatives from Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Bahawalnagar, Sadiqabad and Rawalpindi said transporters were finding it impossible to continue operations because the fares were not being enhanced despite increase in diesel prices on the one hand and imposition of excessive fines on them for minor violations. A summary forwarded for reducing the fine rate was not being approved. — Reporter
