Robbers kill two

MUZAFFARGARH, June 19: Seven robbers in police uniform killed two people in Shahjamal, 18 kilometres from here, when they resisted a robbery on Thursday night.

Abdul Satar, 35, sold his land for Rs300,000 on Wednesday. He was asleep in his house when seven robbers barged in and told him to hand them the money. Satar refused and the robbers opened fire at him, killing him at the scene.

Hearing the noise of gunshots, Satar’s neighbour Bashir Ahmad, came to help him. When he saw the robbers in police uniforms looting the money, which Satar had hidden in his pillow, he raised alarm and tried to catch the robbers. In response, the robbers opened fire at him and also killed him.

District Police Officer Sahibzada Sultan and District Coordination Officer Tariq Javed Malik reached the scene and told the police to find out the criminals.

Member of the National Assembly from the Pakistan People’s Party Jamshed Dasti said police had failed to control the crime, adding that he had written to the chief secretary and the Punjab police inspector general to take notice of this situation.
